A controversial chemical has been banned from baby bottles and sippy cups amid concerns about its negative health effects.

The federal government announced Tuesday it is now illegal for those products to contain bisphenol-A, or BPA, which is used to make plastics and resins. Studies found contact with the chemical led to impaired reproductive and nervous systems in rodents, and the Food and Drug Administration is currently spending $30 million to determine its effect on humans.
